What Are Your Commitment Devices?

We are all involved in the constant struggle between future goals and immediate desires.  Often we struggle determining how to develop increased self-discipline.  Here is an interesting TedTalk that deals with the use of commitment devices in overcoming that struggle.  What things do you do to develop increased self-control?

  1. Two of my favorite commitment devices are 1) putting goals in writing, then placing them in a place where I’ll see them every day and 2) sharing my aspirations with other people. The second device can give you a support network to help keep you on track.
